The Detroit Public Library now subscribes to OverDrive Digital Media, which provides access to eBooks and audiobooks on a wide variety of portable devices and e-readers.

1. Who can check out eBooks and audiobooks?
Users must have a valid DPL library card. "Valid" means that the card is not expired, banned or subject to the $10 block.
2. How many titles may be checked out?
Two titles may be checked out at the same time.
3. What is the loan period for an eBook or audiobook?
eBooks and audiobooks may be checked out for a loan period of 14 or 21 days. eBooks and audiobooks may not be renewed.
4. Can I download an eBook or audiobook from a Detroit Public Library computer?
eBooks and audiobooks can only be downloaded by remote users. Downloads must be to the customer's own device. However, DPL customers may use DPL's Wi-Fi hubs to connect their devices to the DPL's OverDrive eBook website.
5. What types of devices are compatible with OverDrive?

6. Does the Detroit Public Library lend eBook readers?
The Detroit Public Library does not lend eBook readers at this time.
7. Do I need to set up a separate account with OverDrive?
No, customers can login to OverDrive using their DPL Library Card number and PIN on the My OverDrive Account page.
