HYPE stands for Helping Young People Excel.  It is the umbrella for teen-focused programs and services at the Detroit Public Library.  DPL recognizes that teens need their own space to learn, explore or simply hang out.

HYPE Makerspace

The HYPE Teen Center is a place where the passions of young adults are inspired through spirit of invention, creativity, learning and do-it-yourself (DIY) culture.

The HYPE Makerspace within the HYPE Teen Center was created through a generous grant from Cognizant--Making the Future initiative in April of 2012.
