Welcome to The Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation.

You are cordially invited to join one of the largest, one of the oldest, and one of the most successful Friends groups in the nation – The Friends of the Detroit Public Library. As a Friends member you will be able to participate in a diverse series of programs, meet your favorite authors, and take part in behind-the-scenes activities at the renowned Main Library, all while helping to build one of the most comprehensive library collections in the United States.

The Library is the basis of a healthy, literate community. Each and every contribution to The Friends helps us to achieve our goals of providing the facilities, programs and services required for a “lifetime of learning.” We thank you – our members – for the trust you have placed in us and the investment in our community your gift reflects. Your membership dues, which earn both a Federal income tax deduction and a State of Michigan credit, support the day-to-day operations and educational programming of the Detroit Public Library System. This funding is extremely critical in the Library’s efforts to provide current and critical resources to the metro-Detroit community.
