KNIGHT FOUNDATION’S TECHNOLOGY & LITERACY INITIATIVE

On November 4 2009, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation awarded a major grant to the Detroit Public Library for the purpose of introducing a Technology, Literacy & Career Center at the Parkman Branch Library, located at Oakman Blvd & Linwood. Through this grant, the Detroit Public Library will expand free Internet access to the public at the Parkman Branch library by building a new technology and literacy center. The library will be able to serve additional Detroiters in the neighborhood who are literacy challenged, need access to the Internet, or need help finding jobs.
