The Detroit Public Library’s Detroit Reads program celebrates International Literacy Day with special guest MC Lyte, the original B-Girl in the Hip-hop industry.
Join us as MC LYTE discusses excellence that begins with literacy and the motivating factors that have fueled her career from hip hop pioneer to media maven.
Currently, Lyte has a satellite radio show and an upcoming special on BET, “My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women In Hip Hop” featuring MC Lyte, Missy Elliott, EVE, Trina, Rah Digga, Yo Yo, and Questlove, along with hip-hop moguls Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles and many more.
