Home > Events and Programs >McDonalds Books and Backpacks Events McDonald’s Books & Backpacks The Detroit Public Library and McDonald’s have teamed up to fight illiteracy in the community with an exciting new program called McDonald’s Books and Backpacks.  Reading is fun all summer long and at the Detroit Public Library, the fun is just beginning!  This summer we are encouraging grade school students to visit the library to pick up a McDonald’s bookmark, and each time the child visits the library to check out books, the bookmark is stamped by the librarian.  Once the bookmark is fully stamped, the child can then take the bookmark to a neighborhood McDonald’s for a Happy Meal or Mighty Kids Meal compliments of McDonald’s!
