Celebrate National Poetry Month by signing up for this exciting series of writing classes led by well-known Detroit area poets. Ages 13 - 18 only!!!

Every Wednesday in April, 6:30 p.m. at the Detroit Public Library, Explorers Room.
Exquisite journals available at no cost. Sign up for as many sessions as you like.

Session 1, April 2 - Taught by Nandi Comer of Inside/Out Literary Arts Project.
What is poetry? What is freewriting? Learn how to "quilt" a group poem.

Session 2, April 9 - Taught by Nandi Comer of Inside/Out Literary Arts Project.
What is a persona poem? Learn how to step out of yourself to tell another person's story.

Session 3, April 16 - Taught by Nandi Comer of Inside/Out Literary Arts Project.
Let's "Play and Stage" and try some sound exercises. Learn how to write from a gesture.

Session 4, April 23 - Led by M.L. Liebler and His Magic Poetry Band of Springfed Arts.
Put your poetry to music! M.L. will direct an entire band any rhythm, beat, or style with you at the mic.

Session 5, April 30 - Open mic hosted by our very own Frank Menchaca.
Invite your friends and family and share your writings and/or poetry of others you admire on stage. Raffles and wonderful giveaways!
