Join the Summer Accelerated Reader Program Today!

Bring your child to join this new component of the Warm Up to Reading Summer Program at the Detroit Public Library. This new reading literacy activity is sponsored by the JP Morgan Chase Bank, in partnership with the Detroit Public Schools and the Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation.

Your child can choose from a wide variety of books from the school library, public library or home. Then, you simply stop by the AR Quiz Center at one of the Detroit Public Library locations listed below and fill out an application so that your child can take fun and motivating Accelerated Reader Quizzes. (There are quizzes available for nearly 100,000 books).

The Accelerated Reader Program, developed by the Renaissance Learning, Inc., is a nationwide reading monitoring program designed to encourage and reward reading for pleasure, while improving reading comprehension skills and vocabulary. By taking one of over 80, 000 quizzes, teachers are able to measure the student’s comprehension and overall reading level. With passing quiz scores, students earn points that could be redeemed for prizes at any Detroit Public Library locations listed.
