History
The
Bowen Branch opened in its present
location on December 28, 1912.
The branch is named in honor of
an early member of the Library
Commission. It boasts a Carnegie
library of English collegiate
architecture with exterior walls
of buff Ohio stone and red vitrified
brick. Inside the library is a
Pewabic tile fireplace.
In
addition to student financial
aid forms, a copy machine, and
computers for public use, this
library provides Spanish reference
resources for adults and children
(reading materials and cassettes);
English as a second language resources
for adult and juvenile Spanish-speakers
(books and cassettes); Spanish
language indexes (magazine article
summaries); and a Latino Studies
Collection (books in English of
Latin interest). Librarians and
support staff are available to
assist you.
