Detroit's 1946 Automotive Golden Jubilee was a celebration of World's Fair proportions , full of flashy cars, thronging crowds, and the first-ever peacetime use of atomic energy.

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the 1946 Automotive Golden Jubilee, the Detroit Public Library presents an exhibit featuring a fascinating assortment of photographs and memorablia that reconstruct a surprising portrait of the Motor City at a crucial moment in its past.

THE 1946 AUTOMOTIVE GOLDEN JUBILEE: Detroit's Forgotten "World's Fair" is curated solely from the extensive archives of the Burton Historical Collection and the National Automotive History Collection. The exhibit is curated by Jared Rosenbaum and Rachel Mackow with Mark Patrick, Director of Special Collections, and Barbara Thompson and Laura Kotsis, NAHC librarians.
